November 10 — World Science Day for Peace and Development
November 10 is celebrated as World Science Day for Peace and Development. This day highlights the crucial role of science in ensuring a sustainable future and solving the global challenges of our time. Science is a driving force of progress, helping to improve quality of life on our planet and strengthen peace.
World Science Day brings together scientists, researchers, specialists, educators, students, and everyone who values the importance of science. The primary goal of celebrating this day is to raise awareness of the contribution of science to societal development and to draw attention to the achievements of researchers working for the benefit of society. This day also reminds us of the importance of supporting research and innovation to address key social and economic issues, such as climate change, sustainable development, and public health. Science unites humanity, inspiring us to work together for common interests.
In honor of this day, a new project titled “Selfless Women Scientists in Our Glorious History” was launched. This unique special project, implemented by the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Wonder Women platform with the support of the Asian Development Bank, is dedicated to the achievements of women scientists and their contributions to the development of Uzbekistan’s scientific potential.
The goal of the project is to highlight the importance of women in science, inspire the younger generation of girls to pursue scientific careers, and support those who conduct scientific research and contribute to the advancement of science in our country. Uzbek women scientists make remarkable discoveries and work on solving pressing issues—from medicine and agriculture to technology and ecology.
The first video of this project was presented.
