January 14 — Defender of the Motherland Day as a Symbol of Peace, National Security, and Sustainable Development

January 14 in Uzbekistan is a significant date symbolizing courage, bravery, and devotion to the Motherland. The day is celebrated as a nationwide holiday expressing deep respect and gratitude to military personnel, law enforcement officers, and all dedicated citizens who contribute to ensuring national security and maintaining peace and stability in society.

In this regard, the results of a sociological study conducted by the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” clearly demonstrate a high level of respect within society toward the defenders of the country, the armed forces, and patriotic values.

According to the survey findings, the overwhelming majority of citizens perceive the Armed Forces as the main guarantor of the country’s security and stability. In particular, 82.8% of respondents assessed the army as a key institution ensuring peace and public safety, while 76.6% recognized it as a symbol of state independence. These indicators confirm the high level of institutional legitimacy and authority of the army in public consciousness.

The study also showed that the concept of patriotism is understood by citizens in a broad and profound way. For most respondents, patriotism is primarily associated with love and respect for one’s country, adherence to laws, responsible civic behavior, and the desire to contribute to the Motherland through one’s work and activities. This indicates that patriotism is being formed not only as an emotional sentiment but also as a practical civic position.

The survey data also revealed strong public support for military service. A total of 79.1% of respondents consider service in the armed forces to be a sacred patriotic duty of every citizen. In addition, the majority of citizens expressed a desire for their relatives to serve in the Armed Forces, with this indicator reaching 96.5%. These results clearly demonstrate the deep integration of the army into public life and the steadily growing prestige of military service.

Large-scale reforms implemented in recent years in Uzbekistan’s defense sector — aimed at modernizing the Armed Forces, strengthening social protection for military personnel, improving service conditions, and enhancing the military education system — have further strengthened public trust and respect. Sociological data confirm that these reforms are positively evaluated by society.

Today, a Defender of the Motherland is not only a servicemember but also a symbol of loyalty to the state, respect for the law, and service to the interests of the people. The army acts as an important social institution that fosters civic responsibility and educates the younger generation in the spirit of courage and patriotism.

On the occasion of this significant holiday, the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” sincerely congratulates all citizens of the country on Defender of the Motherland Day. We wish everyone a peaceful and secure life, strong health, prosperity, and success in all noble endeavors contributing to the development of our Motherland. May the sky above our country always remain peaceful, and may the life of our people be stable and prosperous.
