Sport as a School of Strength, Health and Unity: Public Opinion on the President’s Strategic Initiatives

Today, as New Uzbekistan confidently and consistently moves along the path of renewal and modernization, physical culture and sport are becoming an essential component of state policy, a foundation of national health, and a source of national pride. The development of sports, the strengthening of international cooperation, and the introduction of advanced standards were at the center of the address delivered by the President of the country, Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev, at the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia.

Within the framework of the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, more than 20 agreements were signed between international and Asian sports organizations and national sports federations. These documents are aimed at achieving concrete goals, primarily the development of sports in the regions of the country. International partners expressed their readiness to select one sports school in each region for every area of cooperation and support their transformation into exemplary training centers. Importantly, personal responsibility for the full implementation of these projects has been assigned to the President’s representatives in the regions — hokims — as well as to the heads of sports federations. This approach highlights the national importance of the tasks set and demonstrates a strong results-oriented policy. The new mechanisms of international cooperation outlined by the Head of State are expected to make a significant practical contribution to the development of sports and the strengthening of public health.

Sport and physical culture are spheres where state policy most directly intersects with the everyday lives of citizens. Therefore, the studies conducted by the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” hold important public significance, making it possible to hear the voice of citizens and understand their assessments and expectations.

The development of sports and the country’s sporting achievements received the highest evaluations when identifying areas that have improved positively as a result of the President’s initiatives. The results reflect public recognition that in recent years sport in the country has become more visible, stronger, and more effective, while the victories of Uzbek athletes are perceived as a shared joy and a source of national pride.

The study also revealed strong public support for measures aimed at developing sports infrastructure, including the construction of new sports grounds and facilities. Public opinion demonstrates a clear understanding that both national health and high sporting achievements begin with accessible and modern sports environments.

The survey further identified sustained public attention to mass sport and physical activity. Public awareness increasingly recognizes that sport is not only about large arenas and major victories but also about daily movement, active leisure, and the participation of children, youth, and older generations in the physical culture of the country.

Thus, sociological research data confirm that the initiatives and proposals of the Head of State in the field of sports enjoy broad public support. Public opinion records the steady development of the sector, the expansion of sports infrastructure, and growing attention to a healthy lifestyle. This creates a solid social foundation for the implementation of international agreements and for further strengthening Uzbekistan’s position in the global sports community.

In conclusion, it should be emphasized that the course toward the development of sport outlined by the President is perceived by society as an important part of the country’s overall forward movement. New Uzbekistan’s readiness for multifaceted international cooperation in the field of sports resonates strongly with citizens, strengthening confidence in the future, in the health of the nation, and in new victories — both in sports arenas and in life.
