THE REPUBLICAN CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF PUBLIC OPINION "IJTIMOIY FIKR"PARTICIPATED IN AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
To mark the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted an international conference entitled “Combating Trafficking in Persons in a Changing World: Prevention, Protection and Cooperation.”
The conference served as an important platform for strengthening international cooperation in the fight against trafficking in persons, improving preventive measures, developing effective mechanisms for the protection of victims, and facilitating the exchange of experience among government bodies, international organisations and civil society institutions.
The event brought together representatives of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), specialised agencies of the United Nations, competent authorities of Central Asian countries, non-governmental non-profit organisations and the academic community.
The conference was attended by Nigina Khayrullayevna Rakhimova, Director of The Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion "Ijtimoiy Fikr".
During the conference, participants held an in-depth exchange of views on emerging forms of trafficking in persons in the digital age, the promotion of safe labour migration, the early identification and effective protection of victims of trafficking, the improvement of social rehabilitation and reintegration mechanisms, and the further expansion of cooperation between government bodies and international organisations.
Participants also discussed international best practices aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, enhancing information exchange and improving the effectiveness of preventive measures.
The participation of the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion "Ijtimoiy Fikr" in this international conference forms an integral part of the Center’s ongoing efforts to deepen the study of the social and psychological factors associated with trafficking in persons in Uzbekistan, improve public opinion monitoring, advance research in this field, and strengthen international academic and institutional cooperation.
Following the conference, a number of practical proposals and recommendations aimed at further strengthening prevention, protection and cooperation in the fight against trafficking in persons were developed and endorsed by the participants.
