Modern Family in Uzbekistan in the Perceptions of Citizens: Values, Transformations, Reproductive Views and Marital-Family Risks

 

The Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” has launched a large-scale nationwide sociological study on the topic: “Modern Family in Uzbekistan in the Perceptions of Citizens: Values, Transformations, Reproductive Views and Marital-Family Risks.” This study is of particular importance in the context of modern globalization, social transformations, demographic changes and new social challenges affecting the institution of the family. It is aimed at an in-depth analysis of family relations, approaches to marriage, reproductive views, as well as the place of national values in the public consciousness of the population.

The main purpose of the study is to systematically examine the social views of the population of Uzbekistan on the modern family model, marital relations, causes of divorce, early marriages, marriages between close relatives, attitudes toward childbirth, reproductive decisions, marriage contracts and the future development of the family institution. On this basis, important empirical data will be generated, which are necessary for ensuring family stability in society, assessing the harmony between national and modern values, and improving state policy aimed at strengthening the institution of the family.

Within the framework of the survey, citizens’ attitudes toward the family, the core values of a strong family, the problems faced by modern families, factors for preventing divorce, the optimal age for marriage, attitudes toward early marriages, legislative initiatives, reproductive decisions and citizens’ opinions on marital-family risks will be studied. The results of the study will contribute to ensuring the sustainability of the family institution in the country, increasing the effectiveness of demographic policy, protecting the interests of women and youth, and further developing social policy in the sphere of marital and family relations.

This study has important scientific and practical significance for the social development of the country, as it will make it possible, based on public opinion, to assess the current state of the family as one of the most important social institutions of society, as well as the processes of its transformation and trends in its further development.
