Art and Culture as the Spiritual Foundation of the Nation and an Important Factor in the Development of Society
The open dialogue held by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev with representatives of the sphere of culture and art deserves attention as one of the important events in the spiritual life of our country. This meeting is significant not only in terms of discussing existing problems in the field and ways to address them, but also from the perspective of preserving national culture, supporting creative professionals, and defining priority areas for the spiritual development of society.
Today, issues of culture and art are not merely an internal matter of the creative intelligentsia or a separate sector. They are becoming a strategic area directly connected with the spiritual image of the nation, the cultural level of society, citizens’ worldview, and the upbringing of the younger generation. Theater, music, fine arts, literature, cinema, and national cultural heritage are important factors in shaping a person’s aesthetic taste, spiritual resilience, and social activity.
Especially in today’s conditions, when the global information space is expanding rapidly, the issue of preserving national values, traditions, and cultural heritage is becoming increasingly relevant. After all, the spiritual stability of any nation is determined, first and foremost, by its culture, art, history, and national memory. In this sense, state policy aimed at developing the sphere of culture and art serves to ensure the intellectual and spiritual progress of society.
From a sociological point of view, the participation of the population in cultural life, their attitude toward the activities of cultural institutions, and their interest in music, theater, museums, reading, and fine arts are among the important indicators for assessing the spiritual state of society. Therefore, the regular study of public opinion is of great importance for the development of the sphere of culture and art.
The practice of studying public opinion shows that analyzing citizens’ cultural needs, their assessment of the quality of cultural services, their attitude toward national traditions, and their level of participation in cultural processes serves as an important source of information for the further improvement of this field.
In this regard, the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” plans to conduct new sociological studies dedicated to the sphere of culture and art. Within the framework of these studies, it is planned to comprehensively examine such issues as the population’s interest in culture and art, participation in cultural life, attitudes toward national and universal values, the role of music and fine arts in human life, and citizens’ cultural needs.
In particular, within the framework of the topic “Culture and Art in Public Perception: Interest, Participation, and Experience,” it is planned to analyze the level of citizens’ participation in cultural processes, the culture of visiting theaters, museums, concerts, and exhibitions, attitudes toward the preservation of national cultural heritage, as well as public opinion on the reforms being implemented in the sphere of culture.
The initiatives put forward by the President to support the sphere of culture and art, encourage young talents, create decent conditions for creative professionals, preserve national cultural heritage, and enhance its international prestige occupy an important place in the spiritual development strategy of New Uzbekistan.
Attention to culture and art is a practical expression of noble goals aimed at elevating human dignity, strengthening national identity, and ensuring the spiritual unity of society. Indeed, the role and significance of culture and art in forming a spiritually mature society remain truly invaluable at all times.
