SUMMER SCHOOL AIMED AT DEVELOPING YOUTH MEDIA LITERACY AND VOLUNTEER INITIATIVES
From June 16 to 21, 2026, the summer school “Summer Media Camp 2026: Digital Educational Camp for Volunteers” was organized at the Chimgan camp in Bostanlyk district of Tashkent region. The summer school was held at the initiative of the Center for the Development of Modern Journalism of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Youth Affairs Agency, and a number of partner organizations.
Within the framework of the camp, practical sessions were organized for participants on media literacy, digital communications, volunteer activities, public relations, content creation, artificial intelligence technologies, and the development of grant projects. The training sessions were conducted by experienced journalists, media specialists, and leading experts in the field.
Olimjonova, an employee of the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr,” also took part in the summer school. She became familiar with advanced practices in shaping public opinion in the modern media environment, the culture of information consumption, and the dissemination of social research findings to the wider public through digital platforms.
As part of the program, participants acquired practical skills in identifying fake information, analyzing media content, promoting volunteer initiatives, establishing effective communication on social networks, and ensuring digital security. In addition, team projects were developed and their presentations were organized.
Such initiatives are of great importance for improving youth media culture, strengthening critical thinking skills in the information space, supporting civic engagement, and developing the volunteer movement. It is expected that the knowledge and experience gained by the participants of the summer school will further contribute to the development of media literacy in our country and to ensuring effective dialogue with the public.
