A NEW CROSSROADS OF DEVELOPMENT: REFORMS, CAPITAL AND OPPORTUNITIES

This year’s Tashkent International Investment Forum became an important dialogue platform that defined the next stage of the country’s economic development. At the forum, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, put forward a number of initiatives related to the country’s priority development areas, investment policy, and new economic opportunities. Particular emphasis was placed not only on ensuring economic growth, but also on developing human capital, promoting regional development, and improving the well-being of the population.

Among the priority tasks outlined by the Head of State, central attention was given to the development of green energy, the expansion of the digital economy, further improvement of the investment environment, strengthening of industrial cooperation, enhancement of tourism potential, and development of modern agribusiness. Each of these areas serves to increase the country’s competitiveness and improve the quality of life of the population.

However, the practical outcome of any reform is determined not only by economic indicators, but also by the public’s attitude toward them, the level of trust, and the degree of citizens’ participation. From this perspective, the system for studying public opinion acquires strategic importance.

Today, sociological research is becoming an effective tool for dialogue between the state and society. Citizens’ opinions on investment policy, the business environment, the quality of digital services, environmental initiatives, and tourism infrastructure make it possible to assess the real impact of ongoing reforms.

In particular, in the process of transition to a green economy, it is important to study the environmental culture of the population and citizens’ attitudes toward energy-saving technologies. In the context of digital transformation, citizens’ satisfaction with electronic public services, their digital skills, and their views on information security issues are becoming especially relevant.

In addition, the effectiveness of decisions aimed at improving the investment environment is reflected in the economic expectations of entrepreneurs and the population. In the field of tourism, the assessments of local residents and visitors to the country serve as an important source of information for improving the quality of services.

International experience shows that in countries where public opinion is studied on a regular basis, the targeting and effectiveness of decisions are at a higher level. This is explained by the fact that sociological research helps identify the real needs, expectations, and problems of the population.

The implementation of the six priority areas outlined by the President is also closely linked to this very factor. The study of public opinion serves as an important tool for assessing the effectiveness of reforms, ensuring open dialogue with the population, and determining the social impact of government decisions. In this sense, sociological research is gaining increasing importance as a valuable intellectual resource for the country’s development.
