PUBLIC OPINION ON ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY AND THE TRANSITION TO A GREEN ECONOMY IS BEING STUDIED

On 13 July of this year, the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” launched a nationwide sociological study aimed at comprehensively examining public attitudes towards the state of the environment, environmental safety, the level of environmental awareness, and the transition to a green economy.

Today, cclimate hange, environmental protection, the rational use of natural resources, and the broad integration of green economy principles into everyday life are among the most pressing challenges facing the international community. In New Uzbekistan, ensuring environmental sustainability, creating a healthy and safe environment for the population, preserving natural resources, and strengthening environmental responsibility are also being consistently pursued as priority areas of state policy.

The sociological study is designed to provide a comprehensive analysis of public assessments of the environmental situation both across the country and in respondents’ places of residence, the most pressing environmental problems causing public concern, attitudes towards the activities of government bodies in the field of environmental protection, the level of environmental awareness, and citizens’ responsibility for preserving nature.

The study will also examine in detail the level of public awareness of the concept of a green economy, citizens’ attitudes towards the reforms being implemented in this area, their readiness to use environmentally friendly products and services, and their views on conserving energy and water resources, sorting and recycling waste, developing renewable energy sources, expanding green spaces, and adopting an environmentally responsible lifestyle.

In addition, public opinion will be analysed regarding the roles and responsibilities of government bodies, local authorities, businesses, research institutions, civil society organisations, and the population in addressing environmental issues, as well as effective incentive mechanisms that can contribute to improving environmental awareness.

The sociological study conducted by the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” will serve as an important source for developing scientific and practical recommendations aimed at ensuring environmentally sustainable development, supporting the transition to a green economy, conducting an in-depth analysis of public opinion, and strengthening environmental awareness and civic responsibility among the population.
