ENSURING DATA QUALITY AND RELIABILITY IN FIELD RESEARCH

An internal practical training session was conducted in the Field Research and Data Quality Control Department of the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr.”

The training was organized in accordance with the Center’s Charter, approved internal guidelines, the international standard ISO 20252, as well as ESOMAR principles of research ethics. The main objective of the training was to ensure data accuracy, completeness of questionnaires, and the reliability of research findings in face-to-face surveys.

During the training, interviewers strengthened their practical skills in selecting respondents in accordance with the established sampling design, strictly adhering to quotas, and asking questions in a neutral and unbiased manner. Particular attention was paid to respecting respondents’ rights and personal boundaries, as well as ensuring the confidentiality of information obtained during interviews.

As part of the quality control process, participants reviewed procedures for conducting comprehensive logical and formal checks of completed questionnaires, identifying inconsistencies in responses, unanswered questions, and technical errors. Mechanisms for addressing identified shortcomings and preparing data for the subsequent stage of analysis were also discussed.

During the practical sessions, problematic situations that may arise in the course of field research were analyzed, and specific recommendations were provided on monitoring interviewers’ performance and assessing the quality of completed questionnaires. Participants also improved their skills in preparing fieldwork records, control sheets, and reporting documentation in accordance with established requirements.

The training session contributed to strengthening unified standards for the organization of field research, improving the quality of data collection and verification processes, and ensuring the reliability of public opinion research findings.
