DECEMBER 8 IS RECOGNIZED AS AN IMPORTANT POLITICAL EVENT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY
December 8 is recognized as an important political event in the history of our country. This date commemorates the adoption of the Constitution in 1992, which became the legal foundation of Uzbekistan’s independence. The Basic Law played a decisive role in building national statehood, shaping civil society, and guaranteeing human rights.
The period when the Constitution was adopted marked a historic turning point for our country. Following the attainment of independence, there was a need to define the legal foundations of the new state system, establish democratic institutions, and clearly determine the legal status of citizens. The Basic Law adopted in 1992 responded to these needs and, through its provisions, defined the path of development of our national statehood.
The Constitution also became the fundamental legal and regulatory framework for reforming the country’s political, economic, and social spheres. In subsequent years, a number of constitutional and legislative amendments were introduced with the aim of deepening democratic processes, further strengthening human rights, and improving public administration. The updated edition of the Constitution embodies the strategic goals of modern Uzbekistan.
The Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” sincerely congratulates all our compatriots on this significant date. The principles enshrined in the Constitution — human dignity, justice, openness, and the rule of law — form the foundation and essence of the reforms being implemented in our country. Through its research, the Center will continue to contribute to the development of legal awareness and civic engagement in society.
May this significant date give our compatriots strength and inspiration for spiritual growth, the preservation of peace and stability, and the further consolidation of the achievements already made.
