THE REPUBLICAN CENTER FOR THE STUDY OF PUBLIC OPINION “IJTIMOIY FIKR” PROUDLY CELEBRATES GULSHAN ALIMARDONOVA’S VICTORY AT THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS IN CAIRO

The Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr” proudly celebrates Gulshan Alimardonova’s victory at the World Championships held in Cairo. Alimardonova claimed the women’s kumite world title in the under-50 kg weight category, opening a new chapter in the history of Uzbek sport. Her convincing 6–1 victory over a representative of Malaysia is recognized as a striking demonstration of outstanding skill, professional preparation, and unwavering determination. Gulshan Alimardonova’s triumph continues the series of successes achieved by Uzbek female athletes on the international stage in recent years.

This positive trend reflects the sustainable development of women’s sport in our country and the effectiveness of the systematic state policy aimed at supporting the sports sector.

In 2021, judoka Diyora Keldiyorova attracted attention with her consistent performances at world championships. In the following years — 2022, 2023, and especially 2024 — she achieved outstanding results, winning the gold medal in the under-52 kg category at the Paris Olympic Games and becoming the first female Olympic champion in the history of Uzbek judo.

Keldiyorova’s achievements contributed to the growing popularity of judo in the country and opened new opportunities for the younger generation. In 2022, Svetlana Osipova won the world taekwondo title in the over-73 kg weight category at the WT World Taekwondo Championships held in Guadalajara. Her victory further strengthened the international standing of Uzbekistan’s national taekwondo team.

In 2025, another significant achievement for our country was recorded in para athletics. At the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, Karomat Omonova, competing in the women’s F46 shot put, set a new Asian record and became world champion. Her result confirmed the consistent and sustainable development of para sport in Uzbekistan. As a logical continuation of this progress, Gulshan Alimardonova became a world karate champion in 2025.

Her triumph has become a source of immense pride and motivation not only for the sports community but also for the wider public.

Alimardonova’s victory sets new standards in women’s sport and serves as a powerful source of inspiration for the younger generation. These achievements once again demonstrate the effectiveness of the state policy aimed at developing sport in Uzbekistan, promoting sports among women, and providing comprehensive support to young athletes.

The creation of modern sports infrastructure, the training of highly qualified coaches, and the expansion of opportunities and choices for young people are contributing to the development of a sports environment in the country that meets international standards.
