In our country, June 30 is annually celebrated as “Youth Day” at the national level. In light of the spiritual and social significance of this date, the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion "Ijtimoiy Fikr" has launched a new sociological survey across the republic dedicated to young people’s attitudes toward family values, the institution of marriage, and personal life.
This survey is part of a large-scale scientific and practical study aimed at a deep analysis of the spiritual and moral orientations, life strategies, and socialization processes of the younger generation, which constitutes the core of our society.
The institution of marriage and family is the foundation of stability, social discipline, tradition, and continuity in any society. In the context of globalization, the flow of information, and a diversity of life perspectives, youth attitudes toward family formation and family values are noticeably changing. There is a need for a scientific assessment of these changes, an understanding of actual expectations, and public opinion for the sustainable development of society.
In particular, in recent years, the average age of entering marriage has been increasing, economic factors are becoming a priority in family formation, tendencies toward personal freedom and the “career first — family later” approach are strengthening, and the desire for a solitary lifestyle is growing.
These processes must be analyzed not only through demographic data but also by examining young people’s worldviews, spiritual values, and personal attitudes toward the institution of family.
The goal of this study is to explore the conscious approach of young people to marriage and family relationships, assess the influence of parents, social environment, education, the internet and media, analyze the level of readiness for family formation and personal priorities, identify differences between age and gender groups, gender stereotypes and sensitivity to status issues, as well as examine young people's expectations of state policy and their aspirations to find their place in society.
The survey is conducted among respondents aged 18 to 45 in all regions of the republic using a representative method. Anonymity and confidentiality of personal data are fully guaranteed.
This research by the Center aims to highlight key conceptual issues that will determine what Uzbekistan’s society will look like in the future. Youth and family issues are questions of social stability, demographic development, spiritual revival, and national identity.
