A SCIENTIFIC STUDY AIMED AT ENHANCING HUMAN DIGNITY WAS DISCUSSED
The Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion “Ijtimoiy Fikr,” acting as the leading organization, hosted a discussion of the dissertation by Kumush Salim kizi Azamova entitled “Development of the Regulatory Function of Social State Mechanisms in Enhancing Human Dignity,” prepared for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Sociology.
The dissertation was completed at the Academy of Public Policy and Administration under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in specialty 22.00.02 — “Social Structure, Social Institutions and Lifestyle.”
During the discussion, the relevance of the research topic, its goals and objectives, theoretical and methodological foundations, scientific novelty, empirical findings, and practical significance were comprehensively reviewed. The dissertation provides a scientific justification for sociological approaches aimed at improving the regulatory function of mechanisms for enhancing human dignity within the framework of a social state.
The study analyzes the role of such social institutions as the family, mahalla, education, sport, and employment in safeguarding human dignity, and examines the coordination of their activities based on the principles of solidarity, cohesion, and interconnection. In addition, within the framework of the “individual — society — state” system, the research explores mechanisms for advancing human interests, strengthening social protection, and creating the necessary conditions for citizens to realize their potential.
The empirical part of the dissertation is based on the results of a sociological study conducted in January–February 2025 among employees of public administration bodies across all 14 regions of the country. A total of 900 respondents participated in the online survey, of which 834 questionnaires were found suitable for analysis. The results were analyzed by such socio-demographic characteristics as region, gender, age, education, position, and length of service.
During the discussion, particular attention was paid to the influence of public opinion on enhancing human dignity, expanding professional development opportunities for civil servants, strengthening cooperation among social institutions, and involving civil society organizations in the management decision-making process.
The Center’s scholars and specialists shared their views on the content of the dissertation, its scientific conclusions, and practical recommendations, and put forward proposals aimed at further improving the research.
At the conclusion of the discussion, it was noted that the dissertation addresses a pressing social issue and that its findings are of both scientific and practical significance. The relevant conclusion of the leading organization was also adopted.
