HISTORIC VICTORY OF UZBEK CHESS PLAYERS

Uzbek chess players who took part in the 45th World Chess Olympiad held in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, took 3rd place among 189 countries.

The delegation of Uzbekistan won 4 medals at this Olympiad.

Including: in team competitions:

  • men's national team - bronze medal,

  • women took 12th place in the world,

  • in individual competitions: Shamsiddin Vahidov gold medal,

  • Nodirbek Abdusattarov - silver medal,

  • Nodira Nodirjonova - silver medal.

The head of our state congratulated the participants of the Chess Olympiad and said, "First of all, I would like to congratulate you, dear ones, for your worthy participation in the 45th World Chess Olympiad held in Budapest, Hungary, taking the proud third place among the representatives of nearly 200 countries, and opening another bright page in the history of Uzbek chess. I sincerely congratulate you.The fact that you demonstrated high intelligence, strong will and perseverance in extremely tough and uncompromising competitions and left behind the teams of such countries as China, Serbia, Armenia, Germany, Azerbaijan, Slovenia, Spain deserves great praise and congratulations" - they said to our athletes. “May you also reach the highest peaks at the next World Chess Olympiad, which will be held for the first time in our homeland, Uzbekistan, in 2026!”
