On March 13 of this year, the Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Democratic Institutions and the Development of Civil Society signed memorandums of cooperation with the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion "Ijtimoiy Fikr," the "Yuksalish" Movement, the Center for Sustainable Development, the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Center for the Analysis of Democratic Processes. During the signing, prospective plans were outlined.

The meeting was attended by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, heads and specialists of the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion "Ijtimoiy Fikr," the "Yuksalish" Movement, the Center for Sustainable Development, the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Center for the Analysis of Democratic Processes, as well as media representatives.

As part of the memorandum signing, tasks were set to enhance the activity of non-governmental organizations with state support, simplify the procedure for granting state grants, social orders, and subsidies, create conditions for zero tolerance towards corruption by involving the wider public, establish cooperation with these organizations, and effectively utilize their capabilities.

The Presidential Decree "On Measures for the Further Improvement of the System of State Support for Civil Society Institutions" has brought the development of key civil society institutions in Uzbekistan to a new level. In particular, the main conceptual objectives are aimed at increasing the activity of civil society institutions, fully utilizing the potential of the "third sector" in the development of the state and society, and supporting their initiatives.

The main goal of signing the memorandum with the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion "Ijtimoiy Fikr" and other organizations is to improve legislation in these areas, expand public participation in the legislative process, increase legal culture, support strategies aimed at national development, and actively engage research organizations in the activities of the Committee.

Several directions of cooperation were identified. In particular, the parties agreed to exchange proposals in the development of draft laws, conduct control and analytical activities, and assess the regulatory impact of draft laws. The Committee will also regularly study and analyze the proposals of research organizations and analytical centers, study the experience of foreign countries in the field of lawmaking, and develop proposals for implementing advanced international practices into national legislation.

In addition, the importance of organizing joint conferences, seminars, round tables, and other events on relevant areas of mutually beneficial cooperation was emphasized. During the meeting, participants shared their opinions and suggestions on further strengthening cooperation.
