On November 28 of this year, the Republican Center for the Study of Public Opinion "Ijtimoiy Fikr" hosted the Annual Sociological Readings named after Academician Ra’no Ubaydullaeva on the topic: "The Youth of New Uzbekistan: Value Orientations and Prospects for Self-Realization". This event was held as part of the ongoing scientific and practical seminar "Current Issues in Studying and Shaping Public Opinion in Uzbekistan: Methods, Theory, and Practice".
The seminar was organized in collaboration with the Public Fund for the Support of Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organizations and Other Civil Society Institutions under the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Association of Sociologists of Uzbekistan, the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The study of value preferences and the integration of youth into the sociocultural space plays a crucial role in the field of humanities. Youth is considered the most socially active part of society, which is most easily involved in various socio-economic projects. They inherit the level of societal development and shape the model of the future. Therefore, the state views youth as an innovative potential that acts as a driving force for the sustainable development of the country in all spheres of life.
The future of the country largely depends on the values instilled in young people through education.
President of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, by declaring 2024 as the “Year of Supporting Youth and Business”, emphasized the intention to strengthen the role of youth in the socio-economic development of the country.
The scientific and practical seminar, organized with the support of the Public Fund under the Oliy Majlis, served as a platform for exchanging views and experiences on reforming the national education system amid rapid global changes. Participants discussed the development strategy of Uzbek society and the dynamics of youth value orientations at the current stage.
The event brought together leading researchers and practitioners in the field of public opinion sociology. The topics of their presentations highlighted the need to increase attention to youth and their social issues, and to identify tools, forms, and methods of working with this group, taking into account their economic, age, psychological, and social characteristics.
The presentations were particularly significant as they included a sociological analysis of modern youth values, identification of the key factors influencing their life orientations, and an examination of how education, the internet space, art, and other areas shape the life values of youth.
Participants recognized the ongoing scientific and practical seminar on "The Youth of New Uzbekistan: Value Orientations and Prospects for Self-Realization" as an important scientific event. It provided an opportunity to discuss pressing issues, find ways to address them, and enhance their professional expertise in both theoretical and practical aspects.
Based on the results of the seminar, a number of recommendations were developed to improve the conditions for youth self-realization in Uzbekistan. Proposed solutions, aimed at addressing the identified problems, could be implemented through the joint efforts of the state, educational institutions, and society.
